Me? Make up?

Hi Everyone

For part of my assessment on Monday we are required to be 'professionally dressed'. Well, luckily, my stepmother bought me a wonderful dress at Christmas but, what to do about make up?

I never wear make up. I don't know what to do with make up. The last time I wore it, in my memory, was in 2002 when I was teaching.

My friend Edwina suggested I go to the Body Shop where they give you a free make over as long as you purchase from them. I liked that idea, and it was doubly appealing as I know the Body Shop is a very ethical company.

So this afternoon along I went. I am still a little feverish and so I was sweating which meant they had to put on about four layers of foundation.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, this picture is the result. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually looked better than usual! And I felt good too. There is something about the whole make over thing that makes you feel pampered.

Now I don't suppose I will immediately change to wearing make up every day but I will try and get a lot of practice in between now and the end of the year. I want to feel comfortable with make up before I get a job because there will be so many things to adjust to when I actually get a job I think it's a good idea to adjust to this now.

God Bless

Amber

  1. They did a great job ...you look quite lovely and professional. The older I get the more I dislike wearing makeup...problem is I need the make up more now than ever before! LOL!

  4. Hi Amber,
I read your posts, as how often does one find someone in Tasmania blogging? I have spent quite a bit of time down there. I am delighted you identify yourself as a Christian, you have quite a mission field literally at your front door! I hope you have a solid group which is Christian as well.

    Just wanted to say hi...

  5. I wanted to thank you for reading my short short story. I left a comment there for you. I'm curious as to what kind of mental illness you are subjected to. I have OCD and I know a little something about feeling like you're losing touch. I haven't spent time in a hospital, but perhaps should have. I do the therapy thing and am making progress. I don't mean to ask questions that are too personal. I appreciated your blog on the psych ward. I am also a follower of Christ and have written a novel. It has yet to be published, but should be somewhere in the next couple of years by a small publishing company in the UK. Again, thanks for your comment.

  6. Hi Kjp and Lizyrene

Thanks for visiting. I do have a strong church group and lots of Christian friends - I'm very lucky that way.

I have, on my last diagnosis, schizoaffective disorder - a combination of depression and schizophrenia. The medication for that seems to work.

I have, over the last seven years, been diagnosed with numerous other things but the medication for them didn't work.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I've visited both yours too.

    God Bless

  7. Hi Amber,
Thank you for sharing your venture out with the Body Shop. You look very nice! Makeup, I am right there with you. I cannot even remember the last time I wore make up. I need to even trim my long hair which has been growing without a hair cut for two years now.
Thank you also for your encouraging comments on my blog. Means a whole lot.
    Blessings dear one!
